Cuisine American
Servings 2 large thin crust pizzas
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tsp quick rise yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 and 1/4 cup warm water
Turn oven onto lowest setting.
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl with fingers and knead until well combined and gather into a ball.
Cover the bowl with a damp towel and place on a cookie sheet. Turn off the oven and place the bowl/sheet inside. Let dough rise for 45 minutes.
Scrape the dough out of the bowl with generously floured fingers and shape into a ball. At this point my husband, who is our expert pizza dough maker, recommend chilling in the refrigerator for about an hour if you have the time as it is a bit easier to work when it is cool, but this is totally optional.
Roll out the dough and place on a greased baking sheet or pizza stone. Add toppings of your choice and bake at 425 degrees F for 12-20 minutes depending on how loaded down with toppings your pizza is. Less time for soft crust, more time for crisp crust.
Add pesto and tomatoes or tomato sauce with mozzarella or really any thing you desire! Load on the veggie toppings and serve with a side salad and you can turn this into a healthy meal.
You can make the pizza dough ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for 2 days. Another option is to freeze batches of dough in silicone bags (see picture above). When you are ready to use, pop in the refrigerator the night before to allow the dough to defrost and then roll out as above.
