Keeping hydrated on the go is a challenge, especially if you are traveling by plane. Over the next three days we are going to look at how we consume different types of beverages when we in the office or on the go and ways to reduce or eliminate your plastic.
I am the original VSCO girl. I didn’t even know it! I’ve been carrying around my same Hydro Flask water bottle and rocking a scrunchie and mom jeans for years. See, being kind to the environment is trendy! (click here if you are not familiar with the term VSCO girl. My sister-in-law told me about this and I had to google it).
Anyways, if you are purchasing beverages in plastic bottles on the go, this is the perfect time to reassess your choices. We are now at a million plastic bottles bought around the world per minute. This includes both soft drinks and water. There is no possible way that society can manage this many bottles through recycling.
Today’s challenge: Invoke your inner VSCO girl (no matter if you are male) and get yourself a good reusable water bottle. Then, make sure you take it with you everywhere. You can use it at home to meet your water goals and also grab it for when you are on the go. Just about anywhere I go these days I can find a drinking fountain with a filter attached and fill up my bottle for free. You can fill it at the beverage fountains at restaurants too and even take it empty to the airport and fill up after security checks. Get one for every member of the family. I like my Hydro Flask since it keeps water cold for several hours. My husband swears by his Yeti. Another good brand is Klean Kanteen, although make sure you get the insulated version (I accidentally got one that wasn’t and it didn’t really keep anything cold or hot). These brands are all stainless steel and dishwasher safe. Whatever vessel you choose, it doesn’t have to be brand new, you could even look at secondhand stores for one. I call the dents and scratches on mine “character”.
