Okay, this is a little bit of tough love today. If you have kids then you know that Band-Aids always make it better. If it were up to my 7 year old, she would put a Band-Aid on every part of her body every day! But, like almost everything these days, Band-Aids and other bandages are often made of plastic, including the wrappings that keep them sterile.
Today’s Challenge: Only use Band-Aids when necessary. With kids, start this at an early age. Put them out of reach so they can’t be used like stickers. When accidents do happen, wash well with soap and water and use a cool washcloth to compress the area and help stop any bleeding, then let it air dry, which is best for healing anyways. If it is a gusher or you need to contain antibiotic cream, then this is the time to get out the Band-Aids. Look for fabric bandages or try these really cute bamboo ones from Patch. For adults you could also try natural gauze with paper tape to hold it in place. Otherwise, sooth little ones with hugs and kisses and use distractions. It’s always amazing to me how quickly things get better!
