For the next 3 days we will take a closer look at your dental routine. First, we will review the stats on why you should care, then look at sustainable, plastic-free options. I recommend trying something before you run out of your current supply. It may require a little trial and error before you find what you like.

The American Dental Association recommends that you change your toothbrush every 3 months. If we all follow those instructions than every person will discard four per year. In fact, a billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away every year in the U.S, enough to wrap around the world 4 times!

Today’s Challenge: If you feel like you need a simple plastic swap right now, I’m here to give it to you.  Swap out your plastic toothbrush with bamboo. You may have already made the swap earlier in this challenge, but if not, here is your second opportunity to make the change. Brush With Bamboo is the only company I have found that makes a completely plant based toothbrush. They come in adult and kid sizes and are pretty comparable in pricing to the plastic versions.   When you have used up your plastic toothbrushes though, don’t toss them. They are great for scrubbing small spaces, like behind the faucet or tile grout.  And don’t forget to refuse those freebies from the dentist. I promise your hygienist won’t be offended!
