As you are eliminating new sources of plastic, you will be looking for ways to store bulk items, house a DIY project, pack lunches, hold recyclables, and much more.  Many people use Mason jars as their go-to vessel.  These are really versatile.  But there is no need to buy anything new.  The containers can be made of any material, even plastic!  The point is to have storage vessels that you will use over and over again.  Cardboard boxes are very handy for organization.

Today’s challenge: Start collecting boxes, pasta jars or other jars from used food items, plastic containers (I use empty Talenti gelato containers for just about everything), yogurt tubs, and empty bottles.  You may not have a vision now for exactly what this will all be used for, but it will come in handy over the next few months.  You can always purge anything that you don’t think will be useful later.  Go right now, grab a few boxes and pick out a glass jar from your recycling bin.  Find a shelf or a spot in the pantry where you can collect these containers and put your items there now.  Be sure to tell your household members why these items are there so they don’t end up back in the recycling bin!  What containers do you already reuse in your home?
