Let’s head to the middle of the grocery store today.  This is the area where you find pantry goods as well as many processed foods.  I love to say a healthy environment = healthy you.  It is no coincidence that most of these products wrapped up in plastic are not good for you.  But that is a conversation for another day…

Today’s challenge: Today I want you to see if some of the most common items you use are available in glass jars, cardboard boxes (but no plastic bag inside), or aluminum cans.  Now there are so many caveats here it will make your head spin.  But let’s choose something easy –  ketchup.  This is going to be a staple in most households.  You will find many ketchup brands in a plastic squeeze bottle.  However, there are some really good ones out there in glass bottles, even the classics.  This is what I want you to look for.  If you don’t eat ketchup, look for salad dressing, mayo, mustard, or another condiment.  You could also look for flour in a paper bag, juice in a glass jar, yogurt in glass jars etc.  Pick just one item and vow to make the switch.  As you get to be a low-plastic shopping expert you will find all sorts of alternatives.  What switch are you going to make?
