Welcome back! Let’s find out where and how big the plastic problem is.
Today’s challenge: Grab your notebook and walk around your home. Start in the kitchen, then move to the living area, then the bedrooms, and finally the bathroom. Set a timer and spend about 10 minutes recording everything in site that is made from plastic. Don’t forget the toilet seat! This exercise will open your eyes, but you can go down a very large rabbit hole with this activity if you don’t limit yourself, so when your timer runs out – stop. Isn’t it amazing how just a half century ago, none of these plastic items existed? My Green Life Philosophy is that not all plastic is bad and has allowed us to modernize in so many ways, but using it strategically and avoiding single use plastic is important. What is the most interesting/surprising plastic item that you found on your hike? Please share!
Day 2 I found a grocery store that provides compo-stable bags for produce. Switch to that store. We have active composting system.
We’ll have a produce challenge coming up in the future, you are ahead of the game!
