Parmesan and Sage Biscuits
Fluffy and savory, these biscuits do not disappoint!
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1&1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup minced fresh sage or savory
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
- Cut the cold butter into half-inch chunks and place in the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend into the dry ingredients until the mixture is like course meal.
- Stir the sage/savory and cheese into the mixture.
- In a separate bowl, break the egg and lightly beat. Add in the buttermilk and mix. Pour all at once into the dry ingredients and stir quickly until a dough ball forms.
- Place the dough ball on a flour surface and knead a few times, then let it rest for a minute.
- Roll out the dough to 3/4 inch thickness. Use a 2 inch round cookie cutter (or the top of a 2 in glass) to cut out circles.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet about 1 inch apart and bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
